Hi!

I notice some burnishers are made of H.S.Steel(Crown) and some like Blue Spruce states that it's made of carbide. Can someone share the difference?

Also, what oil do you use to burnish scraper so that it rolls easy?

Thanks, David

There is no significant difference other than the carbide will be harder to nick. either will work fine. An old screwdriver with no nicks in the shaft will also work fine.

I use either 3in1 oil or olive oil, whatever is sitting next to my workbench when burnishing scrapers. there is no magic, you just want the burnisher to slide smoothly and not tear the edge.

Just make sure to wipe the oil off after you are done.

...and be careful not to cut your finger on the fresh edge while wiping off the oil.

(I figure if I type that out, maybe I will finally learn that lesson)
